Pharmacy Management - Team Leader (Professionals) (M2)

Manages the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. Responsible for implementing and/or supervising the development of specific pharmacy services and new programs. Plans, coordinates, and directs all activities related to the compounding, dispensing, delivery, receipt, and handling of medications and associated products within regulatory guidelines. A Team Leader (M2) supervises professional level employees (typically entry or experienced level) and may also supervise some para-professional employees. Responsibilities typically include: •Setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results. •Problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex. •Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.

Registered Staff Pharmacist - Experienced Professional (P2)

Interprets physicians' prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines. Consults medical staff regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions and handles complex problem resolution. Assists in maintenance of the pharmacy's financial records. An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: • Works independently with general supervision. • Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. • May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Registered Staff Pharmacist: Remote Pharmacy Services - Experienced Professional (P2)

Interprets physicians' prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines for a mail-order or online operation. Has limited contact with customers regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions. Responsible for filling large volumes of scripts while maintaining high quality control standards. May supervise several pharmacy technicians and review accuracy of prescription data entry, order filling, and shipping. An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: • Works independently with general supervision. • Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. • May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Clinical Pharmacist (Healthcare & Health Insurance) - Experienced Professional (P2)

Performs research and analysis related to prescription drugs and their applications in support of formulary development and the prior authorization program. Researches new prescription drugs or new applications of existing drugs and develops prescription drug use guidelines. Develops, maintains, and conducts clinical pharmacy programs, such as drug utilization review, health outcomes, disease state management, care management, specialty pharmacy, and other programs as needed. Consults with physician and physician groups concerning financial risk management related to prescribing. An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: • Works independently with general supervision. • Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. • May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Nuclear Pharmacist (Healthcare) - Specialist Professional (P4)

Interprets physicians' prescriptions and compounds and dispenses radiopharmaceutical drugs within regulatory guidelines. Consults with patients, physicians, and nuclear medical technologists. Ensures high quality control by analyzing medications for identity, purity, and strength and by ensuring that equipment is well maintained and tested regularly. May label white blood cells and monitor daily elutions, kit preparations, and incoming inventories. May supervise pharmacy technicians and/or other lab employees. Requires working knowledge of radiation safety and bio-hazardous waste management procedures. A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: • Managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. • Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals. • Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

Pharmacy Intern - Entry Para-Professional (S1)

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, is responsible for many aspects of pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, providing drug information and advising customers in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines. An Entry Para-Professional (S1) is an entry-level position typically requiring little to no prior knowledge or experience. Responsibilities typically include: • Work is routine or follows standard procedures. • Work is closely supervised. • Communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.

Pharmacy Intern - Experienced Para-Professional (S2)

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, is responsible for many aspects of pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, providing drug information and advising customers in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines. An Experienced Para-Professional (S2) requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Responsibilities typically include: •Works under moderate supervision. •Problems are typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. •Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Pharmacy Intern - Senior Para-Professional (S3)

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, is responsible for many aspects of pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, providing drug information and advising customers in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines. A Senior Para-Professional (S3) requires broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Responsibilities typically include: • Works under limited supervision for routine situations. • Provides assistance and training to lower level employees. • Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand.

Pharmacy Intern - Specialist Para-Professional (S4)

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, is responsible for many aspects of pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, providing drug information and advising customers in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines. Level: A Specialist Para-Professional (S4) requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Responsibilities may include: • Working under limited supervision for non-routine situations and may be responsible for leading daily operations. • Training, delegating and reviewing the work of lower level employees. • Problems are typically difficult and non-routine but not complex. Pharmacy Resident (Healthcare) - Entry Professional (P1)

Responsible for completing a structured program of advanced practicum of Pharmacy activities, research projects and patient care.  Works under the guidance of preceptors while having direct responsibility for patient care, including consultation with patients and recommendation for optimal drug intervention.  Areas of clinical practicum may include internal medicine, ambulatory care, emergency medicine, critical care and specialty areas, such as cardiology. May include work as a clinical instructor or part-time work as a staff member within a pharmacy. An Entry Professional (P1) applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. Responsibilities typically include: • Work is closely supervised. • Problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. • Explains facts, policies and practices related to job area.

Pharmacy Resident (Healthcare) - Experienced Professional (P2)

Pharmacy Technician (Retail) - Experienced Para-Professional (S2)

Obtains new prescriptions and prescription refill information (e.g., name, address, and health coverage). Retrieves, counts, and measures drugs. Assists pharmacist in price-checking and restocking of drugs. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from computer. Refers doctors' calls and any medical questions to pharmacist. May operate a cash register. An Experienced Para-Professional (S2) requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Responsibilities typically include: •Works under moderate supervision. •Problems are typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. •Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Pharmacy Technician (Healthcare & Life Sciences) - Team Leader (Para-Professionals) (M1)

Responsible for laboratory value monitoring, medical chart/pharmacy profile poly-pharmacy reviews, medication reconciliation, medication use evaluation monitoring, pharmacoeconomic reviews, telephone logistical support, supplemental patient education communication and prescription order entry (with pharmacist verification). Preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounded medications and Aseptic Technique, over-the-counter products and supply items, intravenous piggybacks, large volume parenterals, and unit of use syringes. Preparation and distribution of unit dose medications and ward stock items, and intravenous admixtures. Manufacturers complicated and uncomplicated parenteral admixtures to be delivered in the form of large and/or small volume, infusion syringe, ophthalmic, chemotherapy preparation and other complex pharmaceuticals. Operation, maintenance, re-stocking and troubleshooting of automated dispensing equipment. Preparation and maintenance of various logs, records and reports. A Team Leader (M1) supervises para-professional employees. Responsibilities typically include: • Setting day-to-day operational objectives for team. • Problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex. • Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
