provider of health care. St. David's HealthCare provides quality, compassionate
care through five comprehensive acute-care hospitals in Austin--St. David's
Medical Center, North Austin Medical Center, South Austin Hospital, Round
Rock Medical Center, and Georgetown Hospital as well as outpatient surgery centers, a rehabilitation
center, a psychiatric facility and occupational health services.

Even before its formation in 1996, the hospitals of St. David's HealthCare have a long history of serving the residents of Central Texas with outstanding health care, as well as through community involvement. St. David's is proud to be a supporter of local chapters of the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the American Lung, as well as Lifeworks, the American Diabetes Association and People's Community Clinic.

St. David's HealthCare has 5 acute care hospitals, 4 outpatient surgery centers, a comprehensive rehabilitation hospital, a geropsychiatric hospital, and 2 free standing outpatient imaging centers.
St. David's Medical Center located in downtown Austin including a 325 bed acute care hospital, a 64 bed Rehabilitation Center, and a 30 bed Pavilion for geropsychiatric patients.
St. David's North Austin Medical Center is a 210 bed full service hospital providing customer centered services to Austin's rapidly growing northern corridor. To ensure an exceptional level of care, we offer the most sophisticated medical technology, including Renal Transplant.
St. David's South Austin Hospital serves the rapidly growing communities to the south, southwest, and southeast Austin. St. David's South Austin Hospital is a 251-bed state-of-the-art acute care facility and has been recognized as one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals for Cardiovascular Excellence.

St. David's Round Rock Medical Center is a 127 bed acute care facility located less than 20 minutes from downtown Austin. St. David's Round Rock Medical Center serves the rapidly growing Williamson County market.
St. David's Georgetown Hospital a 122-bed acute-care facility located in rapidly growing northern Williamson County.
The Georgetown Healthcare System will continue to provide other community and healthcare services through its existing structure and foundation.

Technology
St.
David's Medical Center is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week. St. David's Medical Center has a 60 bed state-of-the-art Level III
NICU. We use Robot, Acudose and Meditech Our goals include increasing
clinical involvement. The Department of Pharmacy Services provides
comprehensive pharmaceutical services for all patients in the hospital,
including neonate through geriatric age categories utilizing age appropriate
considerations.
Scope of Services: Services include but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborating with Medical Staff Advisors in preparing a Hospital Formulary.
- Distributing, administering, and documenting controlled substances as required by law.
- Storing, distributing, and controlling investigational medications used in clinical trial.
- Preparing and dispensing medications to patient care areas. Automated dispensing machines throughout the hospital.
- Inspecting and restocking expired medications throughout the hospital, including emergency carts.
- Assuring the availability, control, and security of emergency medications throughout the hospital
- Restocking and maintaining automated dispensing machines
- Utilizing a unit-dose dispensing system
- Managing an intravenous admixture program, including TPN preparation.
- Collaborating with Nursing and Dietary Services for drug/food interaction information for patients.
- Reviewing prescriptions and orders before medication is dispensed with consideration of drug/drug interactions and other important information concerning the patient.
- Maintaining patient medication administration record.
- Utilizes digital scanning for physician order processing
- Collaborating with physicians as needed to assure use of most efficacious medication.
- Presenting patient and staff education programs.
- Instituting controls to minimize errors
- Maintaining the quality, efficacy, and potency of medications.
- Retrieving and safely disposing of discontinued, expired, or recalled medications.
- Evaluates medication management system to improve safety Electronic Medication Administration Records
St. David's North Austin Medical Center is one of the first facilities in
Central Texas to introduce technology such as electronic medication
administration records and electronic provider order management.
The pharmacy department also uses technology such as automated dispensing machines, medication order scanners, bar-code technology and electronic narcotic control.

St. David's Round Rock Medical Center's pharmacy provides 24 hour service
and has been on eMAR since September 2004.
We currently operate out of a centralized pharmacy, but will have a satellite in the new OR when the expansion is complete.
Vac system to Lab and ER coming soon.

North Austin Medical Center is a beautiful eleven year old facility located in the rapidly growing North/Northwest Area of Austin. Future expansion plans will soon increase St. David's North Austin Medical Center to over 300 beds. Services include Women’s Services with a Level III NICU, Renal Transplant, Hyperbarics, Robotic Surgeries and Advanced Imaging. St David's North Austin Medical Center is a preceptor training facility for the University Of Texas School Of Pharmacy and provides pharmacy tech training rotations for Austin Community College. Positions needed: Staff Night Pharmacists, NICU Pharmacist and IV techs (FT, PT, PRN); experience preferred, new pharmacists grads are encouraged to apply.
