Regional Director of Pharmacy Operations

Sentara Healthcare, located in sunny southeastern Virginia, is recruiting for an experienced and creative clinical leader to serve as Regional Director of Pharmacy Operations at Sentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, Virginia. This new position is directly responsible for Pharmacy at Obici, and will provide mentoring and leadership for Pharmacy management at Sentara Careplex Hospital and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. The Director joins a systemwide Pharmacy Admin team which has implemented an EMR with CPOE and bedside barcoding, and has delivered impressive gains in patient safety and satisfaction, quality care, multidisciplinary teambuilding, clinical excellence, operational enhancements and financials. Sentara Obici Hospital has just completed an expansion to 180 beds and is a respected, state of the art community hospital built in 2002.

Key qualifications include a Virginia Pharmacist license (or eligibility) and a minimum of 5 years of recent experience in hospital Pharmacy management in a clinically progressive pharmacy practice setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership success with clinical system implementations/upgrades and/or process and operational improvements, and will be able to show measurable impact on areas such as patient safety, patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and operational results.

Obici will also be implementing the eCare online medical records and order entry system this year. In addition to hospital operations, the Director will collaborate with the Outpatient Pharmacies Manager to oversee onsite retail services and will assist with Pharmacy services provided through the BelleHarbour Outpatient Pharmacy and Emergency Department on a nearby Sentara campus.
