Job Summary The primary function of the Pharmacy Technician, PRC, is to provide assistance to patient/client representatives, members, prescribers, contact center agents/client advocates and pharmacy services associates for medication and prescription specific questions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Responsibilities: • Communicate effectively via telephone with members and prescribers in a polite, professional, and accurate manner in accordance with department standards • Assist callers in issue resolution to provide optimal customer service • Assist pharmacists to provide patient counseling and compliance to OBRA 90 mandates • Assist pharmacists in obtaining necessary information to contact prescribers for new prescriptions • Process requests for new or refill prescriptions and submit approved prescriptions to pharmacy for fulfillment • Follow proper procedures for accurate, timely, and detailed documentation of all communication with members, pharmacists and prescribers • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy computer system and prescription workflow • Maintain knowledge of changes in pharmacy practice, laws and drugs applicable to the performance of daily duties • Meet and/or exceed departmental employee performance standards • Other duties as assigned
• Ability to stand on feet 4 hours per shift • Ability to sit for extended periods of time • Ability to work overtime as required • Ability to work a flexible schedule • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to effectively use computers
Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification through PTCB or ExCPT • Current New Mexico Pharmacy Technician Registration
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in customer service, retail pharmacy and/or mail order pharmacy • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others • Ability to work in a fast paced customer service environment with proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks • Strong focus on customer service, quality and accuracy • Strong professional ethics and standards • Strong knowledge of PC and MS programs
