This position is a full time, permanent position located in the Clinical Pharmacy Sectionas a ClinicalPharmacist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Battle Creek, MI.
The Associate Chief, Clinical Pharmacy Service acts as a representative for the Chief, Pharmacy Service,plans, directs, and coordinates clinical pharmacy programs and the pharmacy benefits management process. As the Associate Chief you will providefirst-line supervision to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students, and volunteers assigned to clinical and coordinates other programs as assigned.
The incumbent participates in administrative duties such as planning, directing, and coordinating the overall responsiblities of Clinical Pharmacy Division to provide comprehensive, high quality pharmaceutical care services to all patienst served at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center and associated CBOCs.Detailed duties aredescribed in the functional statement.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Schedulemay vary as deemed necessary to meet the needs of the Veterans and the Medical Center.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • You must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS pharmacy)and have2 years of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level OR have completed an ACPE-accreditedDoctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree andhave 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level
  • Must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
  • Applicants for this position must pass a pre-employment medical examination prior to appointment.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Must be willing to undergo a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must be willing to submit to random testing for illegal drug use.
In addition to the requirements listed above, Pharmacist assigned to this position must be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs):
  1. Ability to negotiate to influence clinical and management decisions.
  2. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing regarding complex clinical and technical issues.
  3. Skill in utilizing regulatory and quality standards to develop and implement operation programs.
  4. Skill in managing multiple and diverse people or programs.
  5. Skill in utilizing available resources to support the mission and goals of the organization.
  6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of the pharmacy staff.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS: Salary and grade level are determined by the Medical Center Director, with recommendation from the Pharmacy Professional Standards Board.

Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting and carrying of items up to 44 pounds, pushing up to 2 hours, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hand required, walking and standing up to 3 hours, kneeling and repeated bending up to an 1 hour,near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4,far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other,must have the ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors,hearing (aid permitted), &must be mental & emotionally stable.
Work Environment: You will be exposed to fumes, smoke, or gases, slippery or uneven walking surfaces, & working with hands in water.
